Fair Usage Policy (FUP)
At Classic Tech, our goal is to provide a fast, reliable, and high-quality internet experience for all our customers. Our Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is designed to ensure that our network operates smoothly and that no single user’s extremely heavy usage negatively impacts the service for the majority of our customers.
This policy affects only a very small percentage of our users (typically less than 1%). For virtually everyone, your internet experience will not be impacted.
Frequently Askes Questions
1. What is a Fair Usage Policy (FUP)?
A Fair Usage Policy is a standard practice among Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for “unlimited” data plans. It ensures that everyone enjoys a stable and consistent internet experience by preventing network congestion caused by a few users with exceptionally high data consumption. It is not a limit on how much you can use your internet, but a system to manage network traffic fairly.
2. Will the FUP affect my normal daily internet activities?
No. The data allowances under our FUP are extremely generous and are designed to be far more than a typical user would need. Activities like:
* Streaming movies and TV shows in HD and 4K
* Online gaming
* Video conferencing for work or school
* Browsing social media
* Downloading and uploading regular files
…will not trigger the FUP. You can enjoy the internet as you always do.
3. How does the FUP work?
Each of our unlimited plans comes with a very high monthly data threshold. If your usage in a single billing cycle exceeds this threshold, your connection speed will be adjusted to a reduced, but still usable, speed for the remainder of that billing cycle.
* Example: A plan might have a threshold of [e.g., 3000 GB] per month.
* If you use more than [3000 GB], your speed will be adjusted to [e.g., 10 Mbps] until your next billing date.
* At the start of your next billing cycle, your speed will automatically be restored to the full speed of your plan.
(Note: Please replace the example values with the actual thresholds and reduced speeds for your specific plans.)
4. What kind of usage is considered excessive?
The FUP is designed to manage usage that is not typical for a residential user and which may congest the network for others. Examples include:
* Continuous, automated, 24/7 downloading or uploading of very large files.
* Using the residential connection to host commercial servers or services.
* Consistent, heavy peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing that consumes massive amounts of bandwidth over long periods.
5. How can I check my data usage?
You can easily monitor your monthly data usage at any time by logging into your Classic Tech customer portal at [Link to Your Customer Portal].
We encourage you to check your usage if you are concerned.
6. Does this policy apply to all Classic Tech plans?
This Fair Usage Policy applies to our residential “unlimited” internet plans. It does not apply to our dedicated bandwidth business plans or other specific enterprise solutions, which have their own separate service level agreements.
7. What if I have more questions?
We believe in transparency. If you have any questions about our Fair Usage Policy or your usage, please do not hesitate to contact our customer support team. We are here to help.
